Once upon a time, there was an only-child named Acosae Eshai. It was a joyous time, filled with warmth and cheerful screams of bliss. But, moments later, his brother (Eoceoe Eshai) was born. Acosae had thought he was kicking something in that holding cell that wasn’t supposed to be there, and now his concerns had been proven true. Now he would have to share his experiences outside the womb with another, which was something he would be forced to grow accustomed to.

A little bit of background is in order.

Countless generations ago, the Eshai family resided in Bosque, but Acosae and Eoceoe’s lineage has lived in Esia for a few centuries. The facts are a little vague, but the story passed down the generations since alludes to a schism erupting in the family’s elders back in the days of old. Rumors exist in the family that the Eshai genes are alive and well in Bosque still, albeit under a different surname.

In Esia, the family turned to a simplistic farming lifestyle. That is not to say that they didn’t embrace new technologies; however, they tried to remain as true to nature as possible. Over time, they developed fairly sophisticated agricultural methods which allowed them to supply not only themselves but also their neighbors (neighbors being a loose term here; the farm had swelled to enough acreage to technically be removed from the rest of society) with food. Many generations and branches of the family tree were living on the farm at the time, so there was never an instance of not having enough hands when it came time for harvest.

Eventually, the family’s interest in farming began to wane. Years passed and more and more of the farm’s acres were sold or bartered away. This continued until all that was left was a quaint estate, one large enough to accommodate an ample amount of Eshais at any given time. While this shift was taking place, several in the family began to dabble in fishing. And then that shifted towards sea trade. A small fleet of medium-sized ships had been massed and the Eshais gradually made a name for themselves in various ports around Haelrahv. If things had continued properly, they very well could have continued on to be the virtual kings of the sea (as far as trading routes go, at least). However, nothing good lasts for long.

A handful of generations before Acosae and Eoceoe were born, several of the younger members of the family were arrested under accusations of blackmail and extortion in Abbindolare. A few years after that, charges of murder were brought upon Osaihlo Eshai (the current “Aeteo” of the business) – though the charges were found to be false in court, the Eshai name had suffered irreparable damage from both scandals. The trading business was (soon after Osaihilo was found innocent) sold and all available members of the family converged on their estate in Esia to meet and discuss how to proceed.

It was decided that each of Osaihilo’s five remaining sons, all of which coincidentally excelled at completely different tasks, would begin separate lives and businesses for their branches of the family tree. It was all in an attempt to regain some respect for the Eshai name. The children and wives of those that had been arrested were essentially dropped from the family; the Eshais always had a strong male-oriented history. Osaihilo would liquidate his remaining assets (including the family estate in Esia) and distribute it equally between his sons.

Lliao Eshai took his family to Rinth and settled in a middle class suburb where he and his wife took positions as professors at the local university. Their currently living descendents remain as teachers and researchers around the city.

Akaelo Eshai wandered for a bit, but eventually settled just outside of Darjing. He always loved the ocean and refused to deny himself the pleasure of seeing it every morning and evening. He helped supply a few Darjing restaurants with whatever fish he could spare (he often managed to catch more than he personally needed for the day). About twenty years after settling down, he died of a freak brain aneurysm. Akaelo never married or bore children.

Esaelai Eshai and Aisole Eshai both decided to venture to Wargale. Esaelai joined the Celestial Temple while Aisole fell in line with the mages. Esaelai soon after fell in love with a local human girl; they ended up running away to Besroth, but no one in the family has seen or talked to them since. Aisole never had too much talent in the area of magic, but he did excel in more esoteric areas. His descendents continue to own various alchemy shops around Haelrahv.

Osheol Eshai, the eldest, and his wife were quick to move to Seihao Xa. Both of them had extensive histories in entertainment (in fact, his wife had formal training in Seihao Xa as an opera singer) so it was a perfect match. They bought a small home in a little suburb nearby one of the main colleges, and for several years they taught at that college (Osheol focused on music theory while Lloaesai, his wife, gave lessons in various styles of singing). Eventually a set of triplets (two girls, one boy) was conceived between them, all of which would continue in their parents’ footsteps as lovers and teachers of music. They soon moved into a much bigger house, which is where Acosae and Eoceoe would be born several generations later.

While it may appear as though Haidee Idia-Anari is Acosae and Eoceoe’s lovechild, there was just no other convenient way to indicate that she has been accepted by the Eshai family and through whom. Perhaps a dotted line would have gotten the job down, but this is more than sufficient for purposes of this wiki article.

Eocasai Eshai, the first child of Acosae and Eoceoe's parents, was stillborn. Seven years passed before they attempted to have a child again.

Enaile Eshai may look awkward jutting out as far as she does on the tree, but she was adopted later on in Eoralo and Chaileai Eshai’s lives. Enaile was orphaned when her parents were lost at sea, so her godparents (Eoralo and Chaileai) took her into their home. She ran away some years later as some sort of rebellion against her new life. Word later got back to her adoptive parents about her being spotted around Titan City. No more information about her whereabouts has been gathered since.
