Holden Kincaid is a Human Trooper.
Friends & Family
Holden has a versatile family. As the son of Cryten Blackstone and Zanquin Firestarter, he has an extended family. He also has two sisters: Yanashia Astonyan and Dawn Firestarter. His family goes on to include his second father, Armande Viladel, and his aunts- Gwynne Thomas, Elandra Eadowin, Mia Theardar, Alana Samone, and Megganserra Kendryke.
Fearing for her son's safety, Zanquin chose to put Holden up for adoption before he was born. Armande arranged for a family to adopt the child. Through no fault of their own, there was a mixup with the agency and the child ended up in a local orphanage rather than with the loving family chosen to adopt him.
Holden grew up a quiet child, often fearing repercussions of his voice being heard. Children were to be seen, not heard. He suffered physical abuse for years at the hands of those that ran the orphanage. Despite all this, Holden grew strong and tall. He was often looked upon by the younger children as a leader and a protector. Holden was slightly bigger for his age. This often lead him to direct conflict with the over children of the orphanage. It was during one incident when he was tied by the wrists and drug through the streets of Llanfair. He was eventually found severely beaten, but the damage to his wrists required the removal of his hands. It is something Holden is self-conscious about to this day.
This incident spurred Holden on to push himself harder than the other children at the orphanage. He forced himself to become stronger and faster than his tormentors. He vowed that he would never be broken again, that he would yield to no one. It was this refusal to yield that changed his life forever.
Shortly before his 17th birthday, Holden fought off a group of boys attempting to assault a young girl. Something snapped inside of Holden, and when he regained his senses, two of the boys laid on the ground groaning in pain. A third boy was pinned beneath Holden and his face was severely beaten in. Horrified, his terror was only increased when armed royal guards arrived to drag him away.
It wasn't the first time Holden was brought before a judge. He had quite the juvenile rap sheet, but most of his crimes were nothing more than petty theft. The judge reviewed his files and found something he thought was amusing. All of his juvenile crimes had been to help another child or children. The judge gave him one chance. Holden could either enter the training program for troopers or spend time in jail for aggravated assault. Holden didn't see this as much of a choice, but he agreed to enter the training program.
A year later, Holden returned to Llanfair as a senior recruit. He quickly excelled in his studies. It was found that he was an excellent marksman with both pulse weapons and firearms, but it was his keen investigative instincts that truly impressed his superiors. It was these very instincts that led him to tracking down his father, who in turn led him to finding his mother and the rest of his family.
What comes next for Holden Kincaid? Only the gods know for sure. But one thing is for certain. The future looks bright for this promising young trooper.
