Layne Sereshira

Layne Sereshira is a female, Alteri Artisan. She was adopted by Eolai parents of the Guardian profession at an age before she can remember, and originally bore their last name of Aae-Aaka. While known to be talkative and boisterous at times, she is noticeably introverted compared to the rest of her race. This, along with various other aspects of her disposition, have more to do with her upbringing than she allows herself to realize. And so, has begun her adult life in a struggle to come to terms with her identity.

She left home after an altercation with her parents over her chosen profession. Her parents had wanted her to join them in the Guardian profession, but they did not want to ask her or force her to do it, at least until she had given up her foolish, wasteful art. As she had grown older they had become increasingly severe in their discouragements towards her propensity to simply create, rather than to protect. Layne, who noted that there were no Alteri in her parents' sect of the Guardians, thought they could not possibly want her there.

Ater leaving home, and many weeks of aimless travel, she came upon the city of Llanfair. Drawn to its diversity and liveliness, Layne immediately knew this city was to become her new home. She spent many days after her arrival absorbing all she could about her race's history in the library. In a type of self-baptism she eventually choose an Alteri word with deep significance to her, "Sereshira", to become her new last name.
