Stealth Attacks
From Haelrahv Wiki
Stealth Attacks are attacks that can only be used while hiding, and usually only attainable by certain professions. Some of these attacks pull the attacker out of hiding when being used, and others allow the attacker to remain fully hidden before, during, and after the attack.

Ambush
AMBUSH is an Agent-specific attack. This attack allows the Agent to leap out of hiding, and attack with the element of surprise. Ambush effectively doubles the attacker's damage (or at the very least, x1.5) on a successful attack (where the attacker would retain the full benefit of surprise). A failed attack (where the attacker is spotted/detected before attacking and lose the element of surprise)and results in normal (untested, so a damage modifier *could* still exist) damage plus an extended roundtime, and possibly a greater chance to miss for a failed attack (where the attacker is spotted/detected before attacking and lose the element of surprise).
Technical Information for Ambush
- Ambush requires that the attacker be hidden and stalking his opponent, though currently it is not required to be engaged in melee in PVE combat, though in PVP the attacker must be hidden, stalking the target, and fully engaged at melee range.
- Ambush can be used with two-handed weapons.
- Ambush allows for dual-wielding, and will hit the target with both weapons.
- Ambush does not allow the attacker to use fired weapons (for bashing yes, but not for shooting).
- Ambush's damage type is weapon dependant.
- Ambush has no cooldown and may be used repetitively providing the right circumstances are met.
Blackjack/Pistol Whip
BLACKJACK/PISTOL WHIP (either command works, and both result in the same attack as far as the Author knows, and shall be known as Blackjack for the duration of this article) is an Agent-specific attack. The attacker leaps out of hiding and attempts to the hit target over the head. A successful blackjack can have several results; hitting the target on the head (this will always occur on a successful blackjack), knocking the target down, as well as the chance to induce a stun (there are three different messagings for a successful blackjack stun, each of varying stun length). A failed blackjack may result in a greater chance to miss period, or it may miss automatically.
Technical Information for Blackjack/Pistol Whip
- Blackjack requires that the attacker be hidden and stalking his opponent, though currently it is not required to be engaged at melee in PVE combat, though in PVP the attacker must be hidden, stalking the target, and fully engaged at melee range.
- Blackjack can be performed with a two-handed weapon, though this reduces the chance of stunning.
- Blackjack may only be used to strike the head.
- Blackjack may only be used on humanoid opponents.
- Blackjack does not allow for dual-wielding (two weapons may be wielded, but only the right hand weapon will be used for the attack).
- Blackjack does not allow the attacker to use fired weapons (for bashing yes, but not for shooting).
- Blackjack is a Blunt attack.
- Blackjack has no cooldown and may be used repetitively providing the right circumstances are met.
Hamstring
HAMSTRING is an Agent-specific attack that is very much like the attack Hobble. The attacker leaps out of hiding with a maneuver aimed for one of four areas (the left leg, the right leg, the left foot, or the right foot). A successful Hamstring will sometimes give messaging (such as "You leap out hiding and cleanly slice X's Achilles tendon"), which usually results in the targeted area of the victim's anatomy being completely destroyed. A failed attack results in not hitting or normally hitting one of the four targeted areas. It is theorized by the author that it requires a certain amount of strength, or a weapon with high attack power (Good slashing damage seems to be the bar) for getting the success messages and ultimately destroying whatever target the attacker successfully hamstring.
Technical Information for Hamstring
- Hamstring requires that the attacker be hidden and stalking his opponent, though currently it is not required to be engaged in melee in PVE combat, though in PVP it is required the attacker must be hidden, stalking the target, and fully engaged at melee range.
- Hamstring auto-targets for either the left leg, right leg, left foot, or right foot.
- Hamstring may only be used on humanoid opponents.
- Hamstring allows for dual-wielding and will attempt to perform the maneuver with both weapons, usually with each weapon striking a different area.
- Hamstring may be used with two-handed weapons, with lesser performance.
- Hamstring does not allow the attacker to use fired weapons (for bashing yes, but not for shooting).
- Hamstring is a Slashing attack.
- Hamstring has no cooldown and may be used repetitively providing the right circumstances are met.
Snipe
SNIPE is a stealth attack open to both Agents and Trackers. This attack may be used with a bow (Trackers only) or a rifle. The attacker stalks the victim and using a ranged weapon aims at the target and attempts to shoot the target from hiding. A successful snipe allows the attacker to remain hidden, while doing damage to the target. A failed snipe can result in two outcomes; The attacker misses but remains hidden or the attacker is spotted, misses, and pointed out of hiding. Snipe is on a cooldown, which may increase (untested) with more people/mobs in the same room, and sniping before the cooldown is recharged results in a greater chance of spotted, and increases the cooldown.
Technical Information for Snipe
- Snipe requires the attacker to be hidden, and stalking the target. Given that rifles fare best at missile range, it is better to remain at missile range.
- Snipe may only be used with Rifles and Bows.
- Snipe is one a cooldown of 1 minute at the lowest Charisma score possible. Higher charisma scores reduce the cooldown (it is unknown to the author by just how much the cooldown can be lowered).
- Trackers may only Snipe in Rural Areas, while Agents can snipe in both Rural and Urban Areas.
- Snipe's damage type is based off the type of ammo used in the rifle.
- Snipe (theorized) does a set amount of damage, which may be increased with higher Perception, or Snipe's damage is entirely based off of the attacker's Perception score.
Backstab
BACKSTAB is an Agent-specific attack. Using Backstab, the attacker will attempt to thrust his weapon into the target's back, dealing massive damage and stunning the target. A successful backstab allows the attacker to remain hidden, while and after dealing a very large amount of damage to the target's back and sending the target into a lengthy stun. A failed backstab can result in two , possibly three outcomes: The attacker misses but remains hidden, the attacker is spotted and pointed out while missing, and the attacker (theorized) is spotted and pointed from hiding while doing normal damage. A failure induces a longer roundtime than is usual, and an extended cooldown. Backstab is on a cooldown which increases in length the more people or mobs there are in the room during the time of attack.
Technical Information for Backstab
- Backstab only requires that the attacker be hidden in PVE combat, however in PVP combat the attacker must be hidden and engaged at melee range.
- Backstab always attempts to hit the back of the target, and may not be used for striking other areas of the anatomy.
- Backstab may only be used on humanoid opponents.
- Backstab does not allow for dual-wielding (two weapons may be wielded, but only the right hand weapon will be used for the attack).
- A successful Backstab sends the target into a minimum of a 24 second stun.
- Backstab does not allow the use of two-handed weapons.
- Backstab is considered a Piercing attack and may only be used with weapons that have a Piercing damage value.
- Backstab is on a 5 minute cooldown at the lowest Charisma score possible, and raising the Charisma score reduces the length of the cooldown (by how much, the author does not know). People in the room during the time of a Backstab attack, as well as a failed attack all increase the length of the cooldown. Backstab may not be used again after the initial attack for roughly half the cooldown length, with (theorized) an increased chance to be spotted and/or to fail with the other half of the cooldown.
Assassinate
ASSASSINATE is a very high-level Agent-specific attack. More to come.
