The Cross (Crux)
From Haelrahv Wiki
- As written by Tamello Yoshir
Taking up a part of the northeastern hemisphere, the constellation of the Cross can be seen. The brightest stars in this constellation come together to form a clear image. Two golden-hued stars are separated by one large gleaming red star known as Salvation, which is placed at a point equidistant from both. From this red star, three other gold stars verge off on a ninety-degree angle from the two other stars to portray the shape of a Cross. The stars to the side of the red star are companions named Destiny and Hope by the astronomers who discovered them two hundred years ago, slightly after the Humans arrived on Haelrahv.
Scholars who have access to some ancient texts of Latin, a language once spoken on Earth, have been able to translate the name into its Latin context. Where the majority of Haelrahv regard it as the Cross, a few proud Human individuals prefer to recognize it as the Crux or Crux Fidis, which means the Cross of Faith.
Those of the Human race undoubtedly cherish this constellation, as it resembles the symbol by which many prayed and sought aid by. Many prefer to sit in a quiet spot and gaze up for hours on end at the Cross, deep in thought about what was once, a place they could call home. Childhood memories of playing on the beach, going to the movies and frequent trips to the local church overcome the strongest of Humans, leading to a flow of tears streaming down their cheeks. Some can be seen wearing a roughly carved replica of the constellation hung on a piece of string, carved with careful hands whilst watching the constellation, entranced by its sheer beauty and magnificence. For many it is the only piece of Earth that they have left, to keep close to their hearts in the hope that when they die, they will be returned to Earth in its full glory. It is perhaps odd that humans should choose such a simple object to remember their home by when there is a world of technology open to them, allowing them to make identical miniature-holograms of the constellation. Yet, they feel a sense of comfort and security by making it from wood. People say it is a reminder of how their ancestors once worked in the past, when technology was not as advanced as it is now in the world of Haelrahv.
The clearest view of the constellation can be seen from Terra Historia, or the city of memories as it has become to be known by the travellers of Haelrahv. Humans amass in large numbers outside the cathedral to look at it.
The constellation lies distant in the skies to reflect the distance the Humans have travelled from their planet, yet brightly visible to reflect the unwavering faith and devotion that Humans still hold for their beloved Earth. The Cross stands firm, courage emanating from the constellation to feed the bodies of homesick Humans who sit out at night to ponder their past.
