You say, "Our wiki is setup so that you have to have a login in order to edit it."

You say, "Anyone can read any page, but only registered users may edit them."

You say, "The purpose being so you get credit for your work, and so we know who made what changes."

You ask, "So, who here is NOT familiar with wikipedia in one form or another?"

You say, "Well, wiki is basically an online, collaborative encyclopedia, or database of articles."

You say, "Topics vary..."

You say, "Some, like en.wikipedia.org deal with EVERYTHING and have literally hundreds of thousands of articles."

You say, "Others, like memory-alpha.org are specialized....that one deals with ONLY Star Trek related content."

You say, "Ours will deal with Haelrahv-related content."

You ask, "For instance....we can make a page about....someone name a race?"

You say, "This especially comes in handy when new players arrive from a profession that NO ONE online is a member of."

You say, "I'm looking for volunteers to work on a Getting Started guide for each profession."

You say, "So that EVERYONE has a way to get started, information about what they should do, what skills they should train, and where to train them."

You say, "Something I'm looking forward to is the merchant list."

You say, "With links to information about what each merchant does, what their rules are, what they WON'T do."

You ask, "Ever tried learning pottery with no one around to teach you the basics?"

You say, "The Wiki is a place for people to show others how to get started."

Zanquin Firestarter says, "I'd be happy to go into alchemy 101."

You say, "So far we've decided to be very lax with rules on the wiki, and I'd like to keep it that way."

You say, "We have a few guidelines....good grammer and correct spelling not withstanding."

Armande Firestarter asks, "Will the content from already existing player sites be added to this wiki?"

You say, "If players choose to add them."

You say, "I'm adding information from existing Haelrahv sites."

Gilead Lothain asks, "Theres a list of links to player sites already on there isn't there?"

You say, "Yeah, we have provided links to those sites."

You say, "Basically, I'm asking that OOC content be labeled as such, and information about scripting not encourage people to AFK script, or devulge methods of foiling script checks."

You say, "But I do want to see information on both of those topics there."

Gilead Lothain blinks.

You say, "Well."

You say, "I want to see people providing OOC information if they want...Pages about the PLAYER, and information on scripting."

You say, "Just not....AFK Scripting in 10 Easy Lessons."

Hok Ginnde chuckles.

You say, "So..."

You ask, "Before I get into HOW to wiki...any questions?"

You say, "I want EVERYONE to get involved as much or as little as they wish to...hopefully a lot."

Zanquin Firestarter says, "Sounds like fun."

You say, "Even if its just to fix errors, or clarify a vague topic. You all know SOMETHING about Haelrahv that you can share."

Armande Firestarter says, "This isn't just the beta stuff..."

Zanquin Firestarter says, "May take me a few weeks to figure out how."

You say, "There's an Edit tab at the top of every article."

You say, "Now, say you wanted to write an article about our favorite race tonight...the Darju."

Zanquin Firestarter exclaims, "Nice!"

Gilead Lothain says, "Favorite..."

Gilead Lothain scoffs.

You say, "Maybe its not THE article about Darju, just a fan article of sorts."

You say, "So you want your article to link to THE Darju article every time you type the word Darju."

I love the [[Darju]], they are my favorite race on [[Haelrahv]].
[[Darju]] have a lot of fur on their backs, especially the men.
I think the [[Darju]] are really really cool.

You say, "You'd put double [[]] around any word to make it a link to another article inside the wiki."

You say, "It can be more complicated, but it really is that simple."

Gilead Lothain asks, "Isn't there a button up at the top for it too?"

You say, "No, just for external links."

You say, "Then you'd place a few words, or a sentance in the summary box about WHAT you did, and click SAVE PAGE."

You say, "And you have your article."

You say, "Well, our wiki requires it have a category to be saved."

You say, "So, PREVIEW will show you what it would look like." You say, "And adding “Category:Test Page” in double brackets at the bottom would place it into the test page category."

You say, "Oh, and you CAN internal link a wiki by hilighting text and clicking on the underlined Ab button."

You say, "Silly me thought that was how you underlined something."

Hok Ginnde points at Beau Etoile and laughs hysterically!

Gilead Lothain grins at you.

You snicker.

You say, "The blind leading the blind here."

Wicis Xilia asks, "So this is where you go to create a page?"

You say, "Well, you can create a new page by putting the name of it in the box on the Main Page that says Add a New Article."

You say, "There are also a couple of links in the orange box on the main page that will take you on a Tutorial Page for editing wiki articles, and one on general info on HOW to edit."

You say, "Its one of those things that SEEMS complicated at first, and then really isn't."

Hok Ginnde says, "I'd never editted anything succesfully before."

Hok Ginnde says, "I've already done several pages on there."

You say, "Hok was a very fast learner."

Hok Ginnde blushes profusely.

You say, "And I'm available a lot of time by IM or e-mail to answer questions."

Hok Ginnde says, "I can vouch for that too..."

Hok Ginnde says, "The IM thing anyways..."

Hannah Channing says, "Tell you what I would like to see in this wiki."

You gaze at Hannah Channing.

Hok Ginnde listens to Hannah Channing intently.

Zanquin Firestarter smiles at Hannah Channing.

Hannah Channing says, "I would LOVE to see players posting RP ideas. RP scripts even. RP events planned ahead. Getting your other players involved and getting PLAYER run events going."

You applaud for Hannah Channing.

You turn to Hannah Channing and exclaim, "Exactly!"
